宣德炉的传说一直在青铜器收藏界久负盛名，它的色泽玄妙为世人称道，明朝藏家有言“宣炉之妙，在宝色内涵珠光，外现澹澹穆穆”。
The legend of Xuandelu has been well-known in the bronze collection circle for a long time. Its color and lustre are praised by the world. The Ming Dynasty collectors said that "Xuandelu is wonderful, with its precious connotation of pearlescent light, and its exterior is dull and mute".
时宣德年间，宣德皇帝下令将暹罗国进贡的罕见黄铜铸作鼎彝，由宣德帝亲自监制，工艺师精挑细选金、银等几十种贵重金属，与红铜一起铸炼，每一道工序精准到位，经十二道火精心炼制而得。
During the reign of Xuande, Emperor Xuande ordered that rare brass, which was paid tribute to the Siam Kingdom, be cast as a tripod Yi. It was personally supervised by Emperor Xuande. Craftsmen carefully selected dozens of precious metals, such as gold, silver, and so on, to be cast together with red copper. Each process was precise and in place, and was carefully refined by twelve fires.
相传，此批宣德炉仅3000座（也有一说为18000座），以后再也没有出过，然而在改朝换代之际，许多宣炉（包括后仿炉和私款炉）已经失散或销毁，已成为可遇不可求的珍品，后仿炉、私款炉亦珍贵。因此，宣德炉在制作工艺方面，显得尤为珍贵。
According to legend, there are only 3000 Xuande stoves in this batch (also said to be 18,000), which have never been produced since.
