铜雕工艺遍布大江南北，莆田铜雕、唐县铜雕等。莆田铜雕艺术中，铸出的铜件的纹理和图案丝毫不差，超大型传统铜雕，即使高达108米，也能做到准确无误。在莆田梅峰寺，有一口宋绍兴二十五年（1155年）由名匠蔡通铸造的铜钟，敲击时声音洪亮，五更时分可传至20公里远，且音有扬抑，有诗赞道：“何处钟声出晓烟，梅寺别有上方天……清音可卜阴阳事，还忆当年蔡氏贤。”所以有“梅寺晨钟”之称，成为莆田二十四景之一。
